This pumpkin suffered from blossom end rot in the beginning of August and developed a hole into the cavity that made it ineligible for competition. The hole was caulked up, and the pumpkin stayed intact for the weigh-off. It received minimal care and was not watered or fertilized in August/September, yet it still grew to be 1378 pounds. The mother seed (1953 Daletas) has produced several pumpkins over 2000 pounds, as well as Scott St Laurent’s 1959 which went 22% heavy!
